The Woodcroft School Day

We have a Breakfast Club every morning in the hall from 8.00am – 8.35am where children can choose from a selection of cereals for breakfast. This is Government funded and free of charge to parents. Please contact the school office if you would like to book your child a place.

The school gates will open at 8:30am and doors to classrooms at 8:35am allowing children to go straight to their classrooms.  Please do not arrive earlier than 8:30am unless attending Breakfast Club as the school will not be held responsible for your children before this time. Classroom doors and gates will be closed at 8:45am.

All children need to be in school by 8:45am. Any child that arrives after 8:45am but before 9:00am will be marked late. Any child arriving after 9:00am will be marked as an unauthorised absence. All unauthorised and late absences will have appropriate action taken where needed.

Break times are staggered between 10.30am – 11.00am. Key Stage 1 10:30am – 10:45am and Key Stage 2 10:45am – 11:00am.  Both groups are on the front playground.

Lunchtimes are between 12:00 and 1:00pm, with classes being staggered for their food sittings.  Key Stage 1 then take their play on the front playground and Key Stage 2 on the back playground.

There is a whole school assembly every Monday at 9.00am, with the focus being one of our school values. On a Wednesday afternoon the whole School attend Singing assembly. Friday afternoon is our Celebration assembly.

The end of the school day is 3:15pm and children are to be collected from their classroom or unless in years 5 or 6 and other arrangements have been made.  If you have an emergency, you must call the office to advise us that you will be late in collecting.

Please collect your child promptly at the end of the school day. Where late collection is persistent and/or significantly late, a member of staff will contact parents. If no contact can be made, a member of the Senior Leadership team will remain with the child and contact Children’s Services for further advice. We have a duty of care to ensure all of our children are safe in school and are collected by the appropriate adults.

Informing the school that your child is ill

If your child is unwell and not able to attend school, you must phone the school office as soon as possible. The office is manned from 8:15am, and there is an answer machine that is checked throughout the day. If we have not heard from you by 9:15am, You will be contacted by the Attendance & Safeguarding Officer by phone as to why your child is not in school.

If your child becomes unwell during the school day, a member of the school office will contact you. We therefore respectfully ask that you keep your contact details up to date with the office.

If you are unsure if your child needs to stay home and not attend school, please phone the school office where a member of staff can advise you.

Total Time of the Week

The school day is 6.5 hours long over 5 days totalling 32.5 hours a week.  There is 15 minutes for morning break and 1 hour for lunch each day.
