Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Welcome back to the last half term. The summer term. Our topics this term are the World Cup 2014 and our 2014 Summer fair. Last half term we had our SATs and the childern worked to their full potential. Thank you to all the parents/carers who helped all the children.
As you may know we are planning our end of year prefomance called "Let Loose". We have got some school trips coming up soon including Paultons Park and Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

We have had a great Spring term and the children have all been working very hard. We had a great trip to the cinema in Southampton to watch Private Peaceful in preperation for learning about World War 1 next term. Well done to the children who have been coming to the SATS revision sessions, these will continue for the 3 weeks after the Easter Holidays. Please remeber to do the homework that will be sent home at the end of term. You MUST keep learning your times tables and reading!!
Have a great Easter!

January 2014. Welcome back to school!
I hope everyone has had a great holiday. This term we are learning about Evolution and The Creation story. We will be thinking about how the world was created and how we have evolved over time. The main story we will be studying is 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo.

Homework club will start on Thursday 16th January. We will be working on projects and practising for SATS. Everyone is welcome!!

Please ensure you are reading and learning your times tables at home!
Please make sure P.E. kits are always in school. A coach comes in on Wednesdays, so it is essential that kits are always in school.

We have been writing to pen pals in Germany and we were very lucky to receive a package with sweets and biscuits from Germany before Christmas.

In music, we have started to learn the Ucayali.

December 2013
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will be sending some work home for children to do over the holidays - as the children have their SATS later in the year, it will be very benificial to keep practising maths and reading skills.

Next term we will be learning about Charles Darwin and Evolution. There are some websites below to research seom information.
October 2013
We are having great fun learning about The Tudors this term and the children enjoyed our fantastic trip to The Mary Rose Museum.

As you may be aware there is a year 6 homework club on Thursdays after school from 3:15- 4:15pm, where children can work on their projects as well as working on skills that may help them for their SATs.
Remember the Present buy will be on Wednesday 11th December, so remember to bring in some money!

On Monday 16th December, Year 6 and Year 4 will be going to The Accorn Centre to sing to the Lunchtime club- bring in a Chistmas hat if you have one!

September 2013

Welcome to Mexico Class!!Welcome back to school everyone. I hope you have all had a great summer and are ready to learn! As you are aware Year 6 is a very important year and children need to all be ready and prepared for hard work as well as fun!!
Please be aware that P.E. will  be on Wednesdays and Thursdays and we are very lucky to have some football coaches and P.E. specialists coming in to run some sessions. Please ensure you have P.E. kits in school at all times (most importantly Weds and Thurs) so you don't miss out on the fun.

Reading and times tables practise are very important -  please try and encourage your child to do extra work at home, as this will help them at school.

Your child will be bringing home letters about guinea pigs and homework projects, so please look out for these.

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
