Year 3

Picture 1

Welcome back! I hope you are all ready for a very interesting half term where we will be going back in time!

This half term our main focus will be on the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age. In English our text will be Stone Age Boy. This will give us opportunities to develop our writing and create our own story. We will then be using the text How to wash a woolly mammoth to support our instructional writing.

We also have our trip to Butser Ancient Farm where we will go back in history, make jewellery, make fences using wattling, and become archaeologists!

In Maths we will start with multiplication and division – our aim is to know our 3 and 4 times tables. This will then link to fractions, measurement and geometry later in the term.

Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please make sure you have your PE kit for both days.

There will be homework set every week. Like last term it will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday.

In addition to this please continue to read at home with your child and record when they have read in their reading log. Lets see how many stamps, certificates, bookmarks and free books China class can earn this term.

As always if you have any questions feel free to come and talk to me.

Welcome to Year 3.  I hope you have had a good summer and are refreshed and ready to learn.

This year your teachers will be Miss Jones and Miss Privett.

This term our topic will be about animals. In Geography we will be learning about the UK.

In English we will be reading Zoo by Anthony Browne. This will provide us with lots of fantastic writing opportunities.

In Maths we will be looking at place value and start to explore 3 digit numbers up to 1000.

PE will be on Monday and Friday. Please can you bring in a suitable P.E kit for both inside and outside and make sure it is in school at all times.

Please read with your child as much as you can. It is very important that children practice their reading at home. Children can earn certificates, bookmarks and books for the number of reading logs completed.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is due back the following Thursday. Please make sure your child completes their homework and hands it in on time.

I will be on the playground at the beginning and the end of the day if you have any questions.
