England Class have been working hard to keep up their good attendance record, well done!
We have been thinking about special people in our lives and the children have been preparing beautiful cards for Mothering Sunday. We think you will be impressed, have a look at the photograph!
We are looking forward to starting our Nursery Rhymes topic after the Easter Holidays. Do you know any Nursery Rhymes?
On Friday 2nd May we will be having a little afternoon tea party to celebrate the Nursery Rhyme of the week ‘Polly put the kettle on’. The children will be preparing biscuits and sandwiches to share with you. We hope you can make it. More details nearer the time!
The children in England Class will be developing their relationships with other children and adults during the Summer term and learning how to be a good friend.
England Class do PE on Wednesday and Friday. Please remember to bring named PE kits to school. As the summer is fast approaching we will be using the playground and field for PE, please make sure you have PE shoes in school.
The children have been working hard to learn the sounds each letter makes. We really hope they are sharing this with you, and you can see and hear this when reading each night. The letters we have learnt so far are:
S A T I P N C M D G O K CK E R U B F H L V J W Z X Y Some of the children are beginning to identify these initial sounds in words they want to read and write. In book bags are simple flip books with each sound. How many can you remember? Do you know the name and sound each letter makes?
We have started learning digraphs (two letters that produce 1 sound) e.g C and H = CH. These are ZZ QU CH SH TH NG AI EE OA OO AR OR UR OW OI ER and trigraphs (three letters that produce 1 sound) EAR AIR URE and IGH.
The children are bringing home Teddy words in their book bags. Please practise these as much as possible as they will support the children with their reading and writing. How many Teddy words do you know? Please remember your book bag and diary each day.
In our Maths we are practising our number skills by counting accurately and beginning to solve number problems using our fingers and objects. The children are interested in number lines and are starting to use them in class. How many numbers can you write? Can you make your own number line?
We are looking forward to the Summer term starting with more opportunities to learn outside in the sunshine.
We will miss Mrs Bradley very much and would like to thank her for her fantastic work in Year R. The children have plans to write letters to Mrs Bradley upstairs!
The children have continued to make progress, and they are developing into independent learners. Thank you for your continued support with reading and writing.
