Mexico - Year 6

Our new school values are

respect

focus

self-regulation

resilience

independence

boundaries

This half term the focus will  be respect. Who will be our respect champion? Over the next few months, we need to be demonstrating focus and resilience to help us achieve our best. We are celebrating our in-class achievements using Class Dojo.

Over the next half term we have planned some exciting unique experiences: gymnastics trip, Mexican cooking and much more!

Our main focus and curriculum topic is Mexico. We will be learning about this North American country and developing our understanding of place and locational knowledge. This will also link to our art focus on the Mexican Day of the Dead.

Homework: Year 6 will be given spellings to learn and will be tested the following Friday. Times tables need to be learnt to aid fluency. The will be given a menu of homework choices and the expectation is that the children complete at least one activity every two weeks.

PE: We will have PE on a Monday and games on a Friday. PE kit needs to be in on these days but it is recommended that it stays in school all week. Correct kit consists of a white t-shirt, black or dark blue shorts / leggings / jogging bottoms and trainers or plimsoles. Longer hair needs to be tied up and ear-rings must be removed or covered.

Many thanks,

The Year 6 team
