England Class

Welcome to Year R!

Autumn 2

We hope you have had a lovely half term and can't wait to hear all about it!

We have been so impressed at how you have settled in and learnt the rules and routines of school.

This half term our topic is 'People Who Help Us'.

We will learn about different jobs including teachers, emergency services, doctors, nurses, carers and lots more! We will talk about our school value 'Aspiration'.

What would you like to be when you are a grown up?

We will also be looking at the seasonal changes now that it is Autumn and events that happen during this season such as Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Just a reminder that we are now lining up in the front playground in the mornings ready to walk into our classroom together. Please be on the playground by 8:40am, when the whistle is blown.

Please also remember your book bag every day and your reading wallet with your book, diary and teddy words. We will read with you as often as we can during the week and the dinner ladies help us to share books and practice teddy words!

We will be continuing to learn phonics sounds which will help with our reading skills and and the full set for our current phase are as follows:

s a t p i n m d g o c k -ck e u r h b f -ff l -ll -ss

Counting and number work will also be practiced regularly through play and whole class activities.

Christmas activities and nativity details will be sent home in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your continued support.

Autumn 1

We hope you have had a lovely summer and can't wait to see you looking so smart and grown up in your school uniform!

We were really pleased to visit you in your homes and your photos with Harry the Bear will be on our classroom wall!

All of the adults have been very busy getting our classrooms ready for you to learn and play and we have got lots of your favourite things like dinosaurs, cars, drawing, playdough and of course our outdoor areas!

Remember to wait with your grown ups by our classroom door in the mornings and at home time and we will line up in the main playground in a few weeks, once you have settled in!

Please also remember your book bag every day as you will be given a reading book and sometimes there are important letters to go home.

If you completed your summer scrapbook, please bring it in to share with us as we would love to see what you did over the summer.  We hope you had fun decorating your snack placemat too!

This half term, we will be learning all about ourselves and our school values. More information for parents will follow in our curriculum newsletter.

We thank you for choosing our school for your child and we look forward to working closely with you.
